What data do we collect?

None. Murmur has no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no third-party SDKs. Everything the app stores stays on your device. The only exception is voice tracking on devices without on-device recognition, described below.

Where does your content live?

• Scripts are stored only in your device's local storage and are never uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes them.
• Speech recognition for voice tracking uses Apple's on-device recognition wherever supported. Transcripts are used transiently to align your position in the script and are discarded immediately — no audio and no transcripts are ever stored. On devices without on-device recognition, audio is processed by Apple's speech service under Apple's own privacy terms.
• Recordings are saved only to your own system photo library.
• Device remote traffic travels peer-to-peer between your two devices over the local network with encryption (Apple MultipeerConnectivity) — nothing passes through any server.
• Preferences such as font size and speed are stored locally on your device.

Permissions

• Microphone & Speech Recognition — only for voice-tracked scrolling (Smart Mode).
• Camera — only for framing and recording in the record-while-prompting feature.
• Photo Library (add-only) — only for saving videos you record.
• Local Network — only for discovering and connecting the device remote.

All permissions are optional: they are requested only when you use the corresponding feature, and declining affects that feature alone.

Children's privacy

Murmur collects no data from anyone — including children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date. No change will introduce data collection — "no data collected" is a product principle of Murmur.
